As you may well know I have a bit of a love for surface pattern design, and designing fabric in particular, but have found the only place to supply at a reasonable cost and with no minimum quantities is Spoonflower in USA. There are many positives for Spoonflower, the main for me being that it’s easy to use and my designs are then also available for others to buy, however the big downfall is that it’s based in America. I’ve been looking for a while in the UK for alternatives, but they either cost a considerable amount more, need a minimum order, or don’t have the fabric choices. This week I discovered Bags of Love, and ordered a swatch pack which has impressed me for quality and choice, but once again it’s two out of three and I’m disappointed that for small quantities it’s going to cost over three times the price of ordering from Spoonflower and therefore not a viable option if I want to sell clothes out of my own fabric, so back to the drawing board.

Oh Vicki, really you should give them a call cos I think they are fantastic. They will be launching this amazing thing soon and it will all be more streamlined (including prices) with so much more opportunity for designers lime yourself. Personally, I”ve always found Spoonflower to seem well priced at 1st glance but by the time I”ve delved deeper it worked out more or less the same but took longer and had no where near as much choice (which I know you mentioned) Glad I discovered you website though, very interesting. Thanks for your comment Tree, and good to see you have found your way here. Interesting, my experience with Spoonflower has been that it’s a really easy site to use and I’ve not managed to find UK fabrics anywhere near the price but I will get in touch with Bags of Love as I really want a UK supplier. Have you ordered from Bags of Love before? From their swatches it seems great quality, but I need to be able to make a profit on the clothes I make. Xx
