I’m definitely getting more adventurous with my sewing after plucking up the courage to open the box of my daunting overlocker. Once I’d taken an evening to battle with threading it (it was definitely a battle) sewing has been much quicker. Although I still need to work on precision as it’s a bit nippy to say the least compared to my sewing machine, it gives a more professional finish. I’ve made a few tops for Harry recently but as I’ve never sewn anything for myself this was perhaps a bit ambitious as my first project, but I couldn’t wait to put these fabrics together. There seems to be a distinct lack of maxi dresses that I like in the shops so once I’d seen this patterns for pirates boundless dress pattern I knew I just had to buy it, and who needs an excuse to buy new fabric hey? In hindsight I think I’ve made the dress a size too big and will downsize for the next attempt once more fabric arrives, but it I’m going to wear it on holiday with a belt and hope it’s ok.
