Many of my illustrations, and textile creations are now available to buy on Etsy, and now some bricks and mortar shops! Watch this space for more additions coming soon…
Etsy – although I set up my shop with a few items in July 2011 after returning from honeymoon, it’s not until the start of 2012 that I started concentrating on filling it and promoting. This shop has many of my children’s creations including bibs, booties, and clothes as well as some of my illustration ranges and is ever growing, but if there is something you can’t see here but want to own please let me know.
With my love of all things Yorkshire, and beautiful architecture I think I have found the perfect combination in The Great Yorkshire shop, situated in the Corn Exchange in Leeds, one of my favourite buildings. Inside this iconic and quirky building you will find this unique independent shop selling a selection of high quality hand picked goods from small independent businesses from the local area, from lights and homeware to chocolate and tea. This is the only place on the high street that you will find my As Scene By Me Corn Exchange print.
I am pleased to announce that I now have a stockist in Leeds, at the fab Our Handmade Collective, located in the Grand Arcade by the Grand Theatre, just off the Headrow. If you’re in the area why not pop in to browse my local ‘As scene by me’ illustrations in person and at the same time you can find lots of other handmade goodies by local designers – a perfect one stop gift shop, and a great alternative to high street chains on your doorstep.
Almost all my sketches start life in my sketchbook, and since moving to Ilkley Avanti Coffee House has become one of my fave local spots to find inspiration and sketch whilst I watch the world go by. I am excited to say that I now have some illustrations on display there. Supporting local, independent designers, and businesses is important to me so this is a great local cafe to be involved with. If you are in there and see my artwork then look for the discount code which will also get you 5% off my Etsy shop.
The Weaverbird Workshop in Ilkley is a lovely and friendly framers which also sells work of local artists and I am honoured to have my work in there. I have taken Phillipa many a picture, batik and screenprint on a bit of fabric to be framed, and it is great to have a crumpled design which I have not known what to do with brought back to life. I would recommend popping by if you are in the area, and of course now I have some prints in there you could have a flick through my designs too!
Independent Leeds is a fab new website (and if you haven’t seen it you need to get hold of their free little black book) supporting local independents. You can find everything you need to know about in Leeds from great food stops to characterful venues and where to shop till you drop whilst supporting small businesses.
Anyone who knows me or my work will know I have a keen interest in gorgeous fabrics, but even with all the choice out there I occasionally find that there isn’t a fabric that suits my needs/colour scheme/theme so in this instance what else do I do apart from design my own! Thanks to Spoonflower I have now listed some of my own fabric designs and they are even available for you to buy too.
As much as I love Spoonflower it took me a while to find a UK alternative for when I need to order my designs quickly and although there isn’t as much fabric choice on Woven Monkey yet I have ordered plenty of cotton to make some blinds for my son’s nursery. As a small UK business I’m always looking to stand out from the crowd and if you want to do the same with personal projects or for your own business this is a great chance to shop exclusive fabric designs or design your own.
Please contact me if there are any items on my website that are not yet in my shops which you are interested in, or any requests/suggestions.
