I didn’t have time to write a Friday Faves post last week so I’m making up for it with lots more Harlow Carr talent to showcase from some great makers and creators at the Harlow Carr Just Makers Spring Fair, which I would definitely be re-visiting if I weren’t heading for the sunshine of Spain this weekend. It is there until 9 June so there’s still time to pop down and see some great local and handmade items:
Becky Moore Handbags – I love the story about how Becky discovered sewing after sneaking into the attic to her mother’s sewing machine and reminds us why handmade items are so important – each maker has their own story to tell. Not only are Becky’s bags great quality and are lovely sophisticated colours but Becky herself has been a great support to me since moving back to Yorkshire, and I look forward to doing the same craft fairs so we can have a good old chat, but more importantly because she brings good music!
K:art -Adele’s artwork reminds me of my art lessons at school and wishing that I was better at still life painting, which to this day just isn’t my forte, and looking at other artwork with great admiration. These paintings would look fab in any kitchen or home and brighten any wall.
Inkylinky Jewellery – Another fellow Craft Souper that I have met on a couple of occasions. I have to admit I have fallen in love with lots of Liz’s jewellery (I’m not going to stop hinting about my fave earrings to my hubby!) Liz is another multi-talented creator and not only makes the most unusual etched jewellery but also prints using various techniques such as etchings and linocuts.
Right, as I’m off to Spain this weekend I have an afternoon left to manically try and make as much stock as possible for Just Makers opening in Harrogate on 1 July (more about that when I’m back from my hols.)
Have a fab weekend
