I had a lovely day today, back in the fabulous Yorkshire for a couple of site visits in Leeds and York.¬† It’s always good to visit my home town of Leeds, and I have to admit that York is one of my favourite cities, I just love it. The weather was great and I was working with a good contractor so all in all the day was going well, but then it improved even more as I stumbled upon a gorgeous little coffee place under Lendal Bridge near the river in York called The Perky Peacock – it may only be small with a very comfortable looking sofa and a few chairs but I could have quite happily worked in there all afternoon. I love finding hidden gems, this particular gem is like a secret, magical and cosy hideaway that Harry Potter and friends would visit in Hogsmeade to share their secrets, so it’s perhaps less of a surprise that a random woman walked in and asked if she could leave her children and come back for them later (there must be an illustration in there somewhere!)

If you’re in York I would definitely recommend a visit, and it’s very close to the train station so check it out and support a local business rather than the usual chains taking over¬† the high street.
