I was inspired by all the recent work I’ve been doing for Just Makers and the recent ‘By the sea’ theme for Harry’s 1st birthday party. It didn’t feel like a sunny seaside at all with my hubby huddled under the umbrella trying to keep the BBQ going as it poured down. But in true Yorkshire style, after all it was Yorkshire Day, we made up for it with a cheery seaside birthday cake, my mother-in-law (owner of Nancy’s Deli) made an amazing sponge which helped me as I decorated my first full cake. I also had the mad idea at the last minute to make Harry a new dribble bib and seaside themed adapted MBJM Lazy Days shorts as my fabric had arrived that morning.

Harry won’t remember his 1st birthday party, but at least I will remember putting the effort in to make it unique with a few mummy made finishing touches.

I’d love to see any pics of what you’ve made for your children’s birthdays, so please feel free to share in the comments below.
